102 Grand Finals to be contested across Queensland as finals fever sets in

People First Stadium, the home of the Gold Coast SUNS, will host the Bond University QAFLW Grand Final on Sunday August 25th to herald the start of the AFL Queensland finals series.

Four huge weekends of finals footy will be contested across Queensland as finals fever sets in throughout the Sunshine State.

The McDonalds Southeast Queensland Juniors competition will see more than 2,000 boys and girls vie for premiership glory in 47 grand finals held at Maroochydore, Yeronga and Broadbeach across one mega weekend (August 30th – September 1st).

South Pine Sports Complex will host the QFA Division 1 HART Sport Cup, and QFAW Division 1 Grand Finals on Saturday August 31st. One of Southeast Queensland’s premier venues, the South Pine Sports Complex has hosted numerous NEAFL matches as Aspley’s home ground, and more recently hosted the 2024 Jarah Corporate Pride Round carnival for the Bond University QAFLW.

The QFA Division 3 and Division 4 South Grand Finals will be played at Leyshon Park, Yeronga, following a successful integration of the two grand finals at the same venue in 2023.

Two back-to-back weekends of grand final football will be played at Red Rooster Park; the Alpha Sport QFA Division 2 North and QFAW Division 2 North Grand Finals on Saturday September 7th and the QFA Division 3 and Division 4 Grand Finals under lights on Friday September 13th.

Neptune Homes Oval at Broadbeach will host the QFA Division 2 South and QFAW Division 2 South Grand Finals.

Throughout Queensland, premierships will be contested at Cazalys Stadium and Riverway Stadium in the north, Bakers Creek and Glenmore AFC’s in Central Queensland, while further south Bay Power AFC in the Wide Bay and Rockville Park, Toowoomba.

Queensland Competitions Manager, Mitchell Simpson, said grand final days were always a special way to cap off the respective seasons.

“Our primary focus is to ensure our grand final days are an experience to remember for all participants, coaches, officials and fans of our game alike,” he said.

“People First Stadium is no stranger to community football grand finals, hosting the QAFL Grand Final in 2019 and more recently the McDonalds Southeast Queensland Junior Grand Finals in 2022 so I am excited about it staging the Bond University QAFLW Grand Final in a few weeks, showcasing some of the best Queensland female football talent.

“Across the state, I am looking forward to seeing the exceptional talent we have in the junior, youth and senior competitions on offer over four huge weekends.”

Head of AFL Queensland, Trisha Squires, said it was exciting to have the finals series just around the corner.

“Our sport continues to experience unprecedented growth in Queensland and strong and successful competitions across the state underpin this growth,” she said.

“It’s always an exciting time to announce grand final locations and I wish every team vying for premiership glory the best for the rest of their seasons.

“Australian rules football in Queensland is thriving due to our hardworking volunteers, coaches, officials and umpires. And we couldn’t host over 100 grand finals without their support, so I thank everyone involved.”

All AFL Queensland Finals will be live streamed via the Official AFL Queensland YouTube Channel.
