2015 yielded another record number of junior football participants in Queensland; now the focus switches to 2016.
The Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast Juniors will hold their respective sign on days over the next two weekends, allowing players new and old to register with a club for the 2016 season.
You only have to look at the Brisbane Juniors for proof of how the space is going from strength to strength.
In 2016, they will run a new Under 11 junior girls competition, have the target of exceeding 7000 registered players, and will offer social media education training to all youth aged players.
State Junior Football Manager Cherie Brockwell said that the foundation these leagues are built off is inclusion.
“Our goal is to ensure everyone has an opportunity to play, coach, umpire or volunteer in Australian Football, in a safe, fun and quality environment,” Brockwell said.
“Our motto for our players, coaches, families, club officials and umpires is to feel they belong, they enjoy their experience, they develop, they are respected, they are engaged and they become lifelong fans of our great game.”
