The AFL wishes to advise that today’s NAB Challenge match between the Brisbane Lions and St Kilda at Mackay has been called off.
The AFL made the decision in consultation with both clubs after the ground conditions at Mackay deteriorated after a heavy downpour just after 2pm local time, with heavy rain still continuing at the ground.
AFL General Manager Football Operations Mark Evans said the AFL and both teams had safety concerns for the players, with water pooling on the ground, and particularly with any play near the boundary line area.
Full refunds will be available for those fans who purchased tickets for today’s game while Mr Evans said the AFL was also appreciative that both clubs met with fans who had travelled to the venue in the extremely heavy conditions.
All tickets purchased through the Ticketek website and call centre will be refunded back to the credit card used for purchase.

The AFL will not try to reschedule this game for another day or venue, with the remaining fixtures for next week’s final group of nine NAB Challenge matches already set.
