AFL Queensland today announced the final 2015 Queensland Youth Girls Squad to compete at the AFL Youth Girls National Championships in May.
The squad was selected from the Youth Girls Academy which is a year round program.
An initial group of 60 was trimmed to 27 following an intensive summer training program and trial matches.
Female Football High Performance Manager, Craig Starcevich, said standout performances during these games had given selectors plenty of headaches.
“Our trial games continue to produce very high quality football, which has made settling on the final 27 a very difficult process,” Starcevich said.
“At a glance, we have 11 players that are top age and will turn 18 in 2015, eight will turn 17, and eight will turn 16.”
“We are happy with the balance of the squad in terms of its ability to restrict the opposition, but with more than enough offensive ability to kick a competitive score.”
The squad, which features players from across Queensland, also includes 2014 All-Australians Tayla Harris, Tahlia Randall, Gabby Collingwood and Alanna Perry.
The AFL Youth Girls National Championships will be held in Mandurah, Western Australia from May 4.
