Since it’s initial start up in November 2009 the AFL Club Academy program at the Brisbane Lions is now entering its 7th year of operation and has resulted in 13 Academy players graduating onto AFL senior and rookie playing lists, along with 3 Academy coaches graduating into AFL senior development coach roles.
The Lions see the coaching pathway as an important part of the Academy program, not only to directly assist with the Academy training program but to also help the development of player’s when they are training and playing back at club level.
