This Bond University QAFLW Premiership season is shaping up to be its biggest year yet if the 2023 fixture is anything to go by.
The season starts at Brighton Homes Arena on April 15 with a grand final rematch between UQ and Southport following the Lions and Southport VFL clash.
Round Two will see the competition commemorate ANZAC Round, with Bond University and Cooparoo to play a special ANZAC Day commemorative match on Tuesday, 25 April.
Sir Doug Nicholls Round will be celebrated in Round 6 where culture and country will be proudly on display at our clubs.
The annual AFLQ Pride Round Flagship event will see all four Bond University QAFLW fixtures played at a central venue for Round 14.
All teams will enjoy the week off on July 1 when the Queensland state teams head to Tasmania for their representative clashes.
For the first time there will also be a bye-round before a three-week finals’ series leading into the big dance on Sunday, 27 August where UQ will be looking to make it a three-peat after winning the last two flags in as many Grand Final appearances.
Queensland Competitions Manager Mitch Simpson said he was looking forward to seeing how the QAFLW season played out.
“Clubs have been busy building their programs across the off season, recruiting heavily, so I’m excited to all sides hit the park in April.
“With several AFLW draftees coming from the competition in 2022, and another Grand Final appearance from the Brisbane Lions in the AFLW Season 7, the female talent pathway in Queensland has never been stronger,” he said.
