AFL Queensland is partnering with Deadly Choices, The Long Walk and the Brisbane Lions for the 2017 Brisbane Walk.
The Long Walk recognises and celebrates the historic trek taken by Michael Long on 21 November 2004, walking from his home town in the suburbs of Melbourne all the way to Parliament House in Canberra – more than 650 kilometres away – in an effort to get Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues back on the national agenda. The Long Walk provides a much needed public vehicle allowing Australians (Indigenous and non-Indigenous) to express their commitment to reconciliation and a united Australia.
Details of the Brisbane Walk:
• Date: Saturday 8 July 2017. Participants will be asked to meet at Musgrave Park from 4pm, with the walk commencing at 5.30pm
• The Walk: The walk will be from Musgrave Park to the Gabba
• Registrations: The first 300 participants to register for the walk will receive a ticket for the Brisbane Lions vs Geelong AFL match and a Long Walk T-shirt (to collect, you must attend the walk from Musgrave Park)
Registrations received after the first 300 can purchase a ticket at www.lions.com.au or at the ticket booths located on site at the Gabba.
