Seven Queenslanders have been named in the initial Flying Boomerangs squad based on performances at the recent U15 National KickStart Championships in Townsville.
The Flying Boomerangs is a personal development and leadership program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young men aged 14 -15 years-old, supported by the Coles AFL Indigenous Program.
“The Flying Boomerangs squad is made up of the best young Indigenous talent in the country and to be named in the initial group is a great honour,” said AFL Queensland Indigenous Programs Coordinator Jesse Green.
“All of the players involved have done their families and communities proud.”
The squad of 56 will be cut down to 25 and the final Flying Boomerangs team will be announced on Friday the 31th May.
Players selected in the in the final squad will compete in the NAB U16 National Championships in Sydney from July 3 to 13 against the North West WA academy, World team and Oceania team in pool C.
Following this the Flying Boomerangs team will complete an International tour in December, Venue TBC.
