In what is the pinnacle of interschool AFL footy for Senior State High School students, the Brisbane Lions Cup has kicked off across South East Queensland.

With schools competing over three divisions, Senior students have the opportunity to play full rules footy for their school.

DIVISION ONE
The six AFL Schools of Excellence participate in a home-and-away style competition over five rounds, with the cream of State High School talent on display. Students from Narangba Valley SHS, Sandgate District SHS, Victoria Point SHS, Park Ridge SHS, Helensvale SHS and Palm Beach Currumbin SHS are considered amongst the best in School AFL with the winners playing a grand final on the hallowed turf of the Gabba in August.

After Round 1 in early March, Palm Beach, Helensvale and Narangba Valley all enjoyed victories and lead the table in both Senior and Junior divisions heading in to Round 2 later this term.

DIVISION TWO & THREE
Schools competing in these divisions play two carnival days in a round robin format over Term 1 and 2, with the top two teams playing a grand final in each division.

After the first carnival days in early March, it was Benowa SHS leading Division 2, with Corinda SHS leading Division 3.
