Coorparoo stormed home to collect their sixth win of the season.

The win keeps the Kings in third place, behind Robina and Yeronga.

Tobi Spencer and Ben Gibson kicked four each for Coorparoo in the win.

Josh Pierpoint kicked five for the Panthers.

Aspley notched up a fourth straight win, defeating Kedron at Graham Rd.

The Hornets reversed the result of the side’s clash only four weeks ago, where the Lions got up by 15 points.

After being on the back foot in the first half, the Hornets showed their mettle, in a 10-goal to five second half.

The win puts the Hornets in fourth, with a 5-3 record after eight rounds.

Aspley’s Steven Jackson kicked four in the victory for the Hornets, while Andrew Green also had a strong performance.

Kedron’s Rodney Broadhurst impressed in his first game for the Lions, with four goals.

What the coaches said:

James Debono (Kedron):

“Some members of the club let negative thoughts into their minds and we were ill-disciplined. That’s the only two areas I can put it down to.”

“We only played the first two quarters and after that it was like we’d given up.

Yeronga cruised to another comfortable victory, this time over Caboolture.

The Devils’ Shaun Mugavin kicked another bag, finishing with seven goals for the match.

Seventeen year-old Jack Jones also put in a solid performance in the backline on debut, after receiving the call-up from the under-18s.

The win sets up a blockbuster clash against Coorparoo on Saturday, which could be crucial in determining final ladder positions.

Chris Ryan (Yeronga):

“We had a good win. We’re starting get a full side back, and starting to hit our straps.”

“We’re an older side with a lot of experience so they don’t’ have to be told anything really jut go about their own business.”

“We’ve got 6-10 players over 200 senior games of footy. It definitely helps having that in your side.”

Kenmore stormed home to take out a dominant victory over Wynnum.

The Bears kicked 14 goals in the second half to really blow the game open and pick up a valuable percentage-boost.

Brad Stummer kicked nine for the Bears in only his second game for the season.

Kenmore sits in fifth after the win, keeping them in finals contention.

What the coaches said

Tom Corless (Kenmore):

“Our last quarter was best quarter for work without the footy, so it was pleasing that we played out the whole game.”

“Our defensive work was great in the second half of the game.”

“We’ll get to play a more competitive side, and that’ll be a bit harder challenge so we’ll train for that during the week.”

“There’s a big upside with this steam because they lack experience.”

“There’s been a bit of turnover in the team but the guys who are there and committed and keen to improve got a lot of improvement and are prepared to do the work.”

Robina continued its unblemished season, with a win over Redcliffe.

Eight goals in the first quarter blew the game open for the Roos early and there was no getting back for the Tigers.

Korey Fulton kicked 11 goals in the dominant victory, while playing coach, Mark Vigus, bagged seven.

It was a disappointing result for the Tigers, who lost to the Roos by only 38 when the teams met in round four.

What the coaches said:

Mark Vigus (Robina):

“We were expecting a tight contest so to get way with the win, we were really happy.”

“It was really an all-round team effort. As a whole, there were no passengers, which was really good.”

“We’ve got a long way to go. The first eight rounds don’t mean anything.”

“There’s definitely pressure (to keep this form up) but I don’t see any reason why we’ll fall away. The guys are pushing each other to get better.”

Steve Jenkins (Redcliffe):

“Clearly Robina are a class above and they punish every mistake you make.”

“From an internal point of view, you don’t just sit down and go we’re done.”

“You look for improvement and in the second half we saw some and that was a good thing.”

Alex Hills came back from a 20-point three-quarter time deficit to claim a thrilling win over Nambour on Saturday.

The match was an arm wrestle early, and Nambour held a four-point lead at half-time, but Alex Hills finished strongly to take the win.

Nathan Burgess contributed to the scoring yet again, with four goals for the Bombers, while Mitchell Eadie was crucial for the side as well.

Brandon Allison was a shining light for Nambour in the clash.

What the coaches said:

Graham Henwood (Alex Hills):

“Very happy to come away with the win after three close defeats.”

“We’re looking forward to our next challenge against the top of the table Robina.”
