2014 QFA (NORTH) SENIORS
Caboolture VS Noosa

Sat 12 Apr 2pm: The Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex (Oval 1)

Caboolture will be chasing their first win of the season when they host Noosa this week. Slow performance and a scoreless final quarter saw the Lions go down by 86 points to Nambour & Hinterland. The Tigers will be confident after consistent play resulted in a 24-point win over Kedron.

 Kedron VS Maroochydore

Sat 12 Apr 2pm: E.K Anderson Oval

Kedron play their first home game of the season against Maroochydore, who come off the back of a huge 83-point win against Aspley. A strong 11-goal first quarter last week will see the Roos confidently take on the Lions, who only managed 10 goals in their close loss to Noosa.

Mayne VS Aspley

Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Mott Street

Top team Mayne host Aspley in what is likely to be a tough game for the Hornets. Aspley are yet to win a game, with a whopping 83-point loss to Maroochydore last week. Aspley should watch out for Luke Ferguson who was on fire last week, kicking 9 goals in the Tigers’ defeat of Caloundra.

Nambour & Hinterland VS Caloundra
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Jubilee Drive

Nambour & Hinterland host Caloundra, with the Panthers chasing their first win of the season after a round 2 bye. Nambour & Hinterland crushed Caboolture last week, with top goal kickers Ben Stanley and Thomas Booth leading the team to an 86-point victory.

Coolangatta-Tweed VS SpringwoodSat 12 Apr 2pm: Peak Oval

Coolangatta-Tweed go head-to-head this week with Springwood, who are coming off the back of a bye. The Blues started off strong last week in what ended up being a thriller against Coomera, with 12 goals in the first quarter setting them up nicely for a 3-point win.

Coorparoo VS Alexandra Hills
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Giffin Park (Oval 1)

Coorparoo chase their first win of the season in a home game against Alexandra Hills. The Kings sit at the bottom of the ladder after a 77-point loss to Robina. Despite a slow start against Yeronga last week, Alexandra Hills came back in the second quarter and played consistently to secure a 17-point win over the Devils.

Robina VS Kenmore
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Scottsdale Drive

Top teams Robina and Kenmore will battle it out in the only clash of the round with two undefeated teams. The Roos started out slowly last week, but a strong 7 goals in the final quarter ensured their 77-point defeat of Coorparoo. The Bears also experienced a late surge of energy, with 6 goals in the fourth quarter leading them to a 26-point victory over Burleigh.

Yeronga South Brisbane VS Coomera
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Leyshon Park (Oval 1)

Yeronga plays their first home game against Coomera, with both clubs searching for their first win of the season. Despite a 9-goal first quarter last week against Coolangatta-Tweed, a disappointing final quarter saw the Magpies go down by 3 points. The Devils lost to Alexandra Hills by 17 points in a close round 2 match.

Ipswich VS Pine Rivers
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Limestone Park

Ipswich host Pine Rivers following convincing round 4 wins for both teams. The Swans decimated Park Ridge in a 113-point round 4 thrashing. The Eagles, who beat Logan by 40 points, should watch out for Swans star Cameron Colvin who kicked 10 goals last week.

Logan VS Carrara
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Tansey Park

Carrara will be looking for their first win after three losses and a bye when they take on Logan this week. After a close first quarter against UQ, the Saints were overrun by the Red Lions and finished 37 points down last week. The Cobras suffered a 40-point loss to Ipswich.

Redcliffe VS Park Ridge
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Rothwell Park

Redcliffe and Park Ridge will both be out for a strong start after suffering round 4 losses. After battling neck-and-neck with Griffith-Moorooka for the first two quarters, the Tigers lost momentum, going down by 37 points. Park Ridge suffered a 113-point thrashing at the hands of Pine Rivers.

University of Queensland VS Beenleigh
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: St Lucia (Oval 7)

UQ host Beenleigh in what will be a tough match for the Buffaloes. Their three consecutive losses and round 4 bye mean that the undefeated Red Lions, who beat Carrara by 37 points last week, will be tough competition.

Bribie Island VS Glasshouse HinterlandSat 12 Apr 2pm: Bribie Island

Bribie Island host Glasshouse Hinterland with both teams vying for their first win of the season. The Bulldogs were slaughtered by Pomona last week, losing by 70 points and kicking only 6 goals. The Lions will be out to perform strongly, after scoreless second and third quarters delivered them a 32-point loss against Gympie.

Maroochydore VS Pomona
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Maroochydore Multisports Complex

Maroochydore will be out with guns blazing against Pomona after a bye last week. The Demons thrashed Bribie Island by 70 points in round 2.

2014 QAFA (B) CENTRAL Round 2

Kedron VS Zillmere
Fri 11 Apr 7:30pm : E.K Anderson Oval

Kedron goes up against 2013 champions Zillmere in what could be a tough match for the Lions. They suffered a disastrous 141-point hiding against Wynnum, scoring two goals the entire match. The Eagles defeated Yeronga by 29 points in their low-scoring round 1 match, with both teams remaining scoreless until the final quarter.

Kenmore VS Collingwood Park
Fri 11 Apr 7:30pm: Western Districts Oval

Kenmore play Collingwood in the Power’s first away game for the season. The Power will be full of confidence after they put away a 110-point win over UQ last week. The Bears will be out to improve, after a scoreless third quarter saw them lose to Woodsmen by 18 points.

University of Queensland VS Greater Springfield
Sat 12 Apr 9:45am: St Lucia (Oval 7)

Greater Springfield kicks off their season this Saturday against UQ, following a round 1 bye. The Red Lions will be determined to use their home ground advantage to make amends for their 110-point loss against Collingwood Park last weekend, where they only scored 3 goals.

Jimboomba VS Yeronga South Brisbane
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Glen Logan Park

Jimboomba host Yeronga, with both teams after their first win of the season. The Redbacks suffered a scoreless first quarter and consecutive 52-point loss to Sandgate. The Devils will also be out to start strong, after their disastrous performance in last week’s 2013 Grand Final Replay last week. Yeronga and Zillmere both remained scoreless until the final quarter, where the Devils’ 4 goals were unable to push them over the line.

Woodsmen VS Sandgate
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Western Districts Oval

Woodsmen and Sandgate will both be confident after securing round 1 wins. The Hawks’ consistent play and strong final quarter defeated Jimboomba by 52 points. Woodsmen will be out for a strong start this week. Despite a scoreless first quarter, they defeated Kenmore by 18 points in last week’s low-scoring game.

Bond University VS Tweed Coast
Fri 11 Apr 7:30pm: Bond University

Round 2’s only Friday fixtures see Bond University up against reigning premiers Tweed Coast. After losing to Byron Bay by at least 100 points in every game last year, Bond decimated the Magpies last week with a 98-point victory. Tweed Coast secured a convincing 51-point win over Ballina in round 1.

Robina VS Byron Bay
Sat 12 Apr 10am: Scottsdale Drive

Robina take on Byron Bay with both teams looking to bounce back from round 1 losses. The Magpies suffered a shock upset last week, with Bond University slaughtering them by 98 points. The Roos lost to Lismore by 25 points after a slow start with only two goals in the first quarter.

Lismore VS Ballina
Sat 12 Apr 2pm: Uralba St Oval

Lismore host Ballina in what will be the first home game for many of the Swans’ new recruits. A strong start from the Swans secured a 25-point win over Robina, despite their goalless final quarter. After leading at the end of the first quarter, the Bombers’ goalless second quarter saw them lose control of the game, with the Tigers defeating them by 51 points.
