Want to win a brand-new Toyota Corolla? This month, you just might! From September 2nd – 16th, AFL Cape York House Foundation is running a monster online charity auction to support young Indigenous girls and boys achieve positive life experiences in education and wellbeing.
AFL Cape York House Foundation have put together the online auction with over twenty lots available for bidding including a $5K Cairns Hardware voucher, reef trips with Passions of Paradise and Experience Co, a cricket bat signed by Ricky Ponting, Islander and mainland Aboriginal artwork by celebrated Indigenous artist Daniel O’Shane, as well as the grand prize of a new model Toyota Corolla valued at $28K, generously donated by major partner Pacific Toyota.
House Manager at AFL Cape York House Foundation, Kane Richter said this is the first online auction AFLCY Foundation has run, and local businesses have been very supportive in their generosity.
“In the past, the AFL has held a very successful charity event in Melbourne on our behalf, raising money and awareness for AFLCY Foundation. Due to Covid restrictions, we’ve not been able to hold the event this year or last, so this is our opportunity to not only raise awareness for the Foundation nationally, but to also promote and thank our local sponsors and supporters.”
AFL Cape York General Manager Rick Hanlon said the auction aims to raise funds so that AFL Cape York Foundation can continue delivering the services that provide young Indigenous with positive life experiences and opportunities for education and wellbeing.
“While every little bit helps, we’re hoping to raise $20K that will go towards supporting our young students who are living away from home, through tutoring, resources, educational electronics and technology, and wellbeing activities. The money also goes into supporting the AFL Cape York’s Sport Education AFL Programs.
“Enabling our young Indigenous people to have the opportunity to grow and develop is the very basis of what AFLCY Foundation does, and we’re very proud of achievements to date and the extraordinary community support we receive.”
