AFL Grand Finals excitement will take over the Capricornia region this Saturday, for AFL Grand Final Day.
Rockhampton Cricket Grounds will host six grand finals; Under 13s, Under 15s, Under 17s, Reserves, Senior Womens and Senior Mens.
Half of the days Grand Finals (three games) will be contested between the Yeppoon Swans and the BITS Saints.
In the Senior Mens competition, The Yeppoon Swans will be aiming for an unprecedented 8th consecutive Premiership.
AFL Capricornia Regional Manager Brad Matheson said that the footy community was excited to celebrate this weekend.
“The Yeppoon Swans have undoubtedly been the bench mark again this year across the three Senior Grades, but looking at the bigger picture it has been an extremely even competition across the board. Right up until the second last round of the home & away season, all teams had the opportunity to make finals in our Senior Women’s and Reserve’s Competitions, and only two and a half games separated second to fifth in the Senior Men” he said.
“It is obviously going to be a very Special Day for the Yeppoon Swans should they take out the three Senior Competitions (Reserves, Senior Women & Senior Men) and with all three teams going through the season undefeated they would be favourites.
“This would be the first time since the introduction of our Senior Women’s competition that one Club has had the opportunity to do that.
“With that being said, if we see any of our underdogs get up this weekend I am sure we are going to see some pretty impressive celebrations.
“Every year is a tough year for our Clubs and their volunteers with hundreds of people giving up their time every week to ensure that all of our teams can play.
“Whether it’s umpiring, coaching, welcoming people at the gate or hours spent in our canteens, our volunteers are the life blood of our Clubs and we cannot thank them enough for the work they do for our Footy Community in Capricornia.”

5.15pm – Senior Mens Yeppoon v BITS
Presentations will follow each match.
Food and Drink: Canteen operational all day – food and coffee vans, bars open for senior matches.
Parking: Ample parking available at venue.
