AFL Grand Finals excitement will take over the Darling Downs region this Saturday, for AFL Grand Final Day.
Rockville Park will host four grand finals; Under 12s, Under 14s, Senior Womens and Senior Mens.
In the Senior Women’s, it’s a Grand Final rematch between Toowoomba and Goondiwindi. Seven time premiers, the Toowoomba Tigers head into the game as favourites.
In the Senior Men’s Allied Cup, Coolaroo meet South Toowoomba. Coolaroo have only been defeated once this year and it was by their Grand Final opponents. South Toowoomba are chasing their third straight premiership in a row, in the Club’s 50th year anniversary.
AFL Darling Downs Regional Manager Jana Anderson said the footy community was looking forward to celebrating a great weekend after an eventful season.
“The 2022 AFL Darling Downs season has seen plenty of excitement across all age groups,” she said.
“Despite some very wet weekends, we have managed to keep on top of the majority of games.
“Some of the highlights of the year include the Sir Doug Nicholls Round, along with former AFL greats and Brownlow medalists, Jason Akermanis and Dane Swan, having a run in the Senior Men’s Competition.
“I would like to thank the volunteers who have generously dedicated their time and labour to run various aspects of football across the Darling Downs this year.
“Their worth should be weighed in gold, but that would be very costly!
“I would also like to send a big thank you to all the club volunteers in 2022.”
