Queenslander Peter Bock will make his AFL boundary umpiring debut in front of a home state crowd at the Brisbane Lions vs. Collingwood Gabba clash this Saturday night.
It’s been a meteoric rise for the Mountain Creek State High School teacher who has been officiating for just over a year.
Exceptional running was the key to Bock’s acceleration from community football to NEAFL in such a short period of time; add to that decision making and understanding of positioning and you get an AFL debut.
He will join fellow Sunshine Coaster teacher, Aaron Deckys, who has been running boundary for the AFL since 1998.
Aaron was a teacher at St Johns College for many years and is the current head of sport at Siena Catholic College.
