The Park Ridge AFC lodged a formal request to remain in the QFA Division 2 competition in 2019 due to concerns regarding player availability, list depth and the club’s sustainability.
AFL Queensland met with the Club to discuss their concerns in detail. Whilst AFL Queensland is sympathetic and understands the difficult situation the Club finds itself in, AFL Queensland has advised the Club that in accordance with the promotion and relegation rules for QFA Division 1, 2 and 3, their request has been declined.
Rules relating to promotion and relegation are explicit in that the club that wins the Division 2 competition is automatically promoted to Division 1 the following season.
AFL Queensland’s obligation to all clubs is to uphold the integrity of the competition rules and regulations and this was a key determining factor in making the decision.
There will be no further changes to the structure of the QFA Division 1, 2 or 3 competitions for 2019.
