The 2013 KooGa AFL Queensland Women’s State Championships commence in Brisbane this Thursday, April 25.
Cairns, Capricornia, South East Queensland North, and South East Queensland South will vie for the State title in a round robin style carnival that will conclude on Saturday the April 27.
AFL Queensland Female Programs Manager Julia Price said that the championships allows players to participate in AFL at a highly competitive level.
“The KooGa AFL Queensland Women’s State Championships provides the girls with chance to further their football skills in a challenging environment,” Price said.
“The competition allows a rare opportunity for the girls to compete against a variety of players from around the state.”
Selectors will be scouting for players to form the 2013 state team – The Queensland Sunfire, who will compete at the AFL Women’s National Championships in Cairns, from of June 17 to 22.
Selected state team players will compete against Victoria, Western Australia, and New South Wales in Division One at the National Championships.
The state team will be announced on Monday April 29.
