Round six will see QAFL footy action taken to Toowoomba, for the ‘Battle of the Bush,’ between the Western Magpies and Surfers Paradise.
Adding to the spectacle, AFL Darling Downs ‘City verses Country’ games will be played either side of the QAFL seniors and reserves in a showcase of QAFL and local footy.
It’s Toowoomba’s first game of QAFL footy since 2011 and a procession of local exports will be on show, including former Dalby Swan Brodie Easton, who’ll line up for the Magpies in the seniors.
Western Magpies assistant coach Shane Melrose is another Toowoomba football product, along with Magpies reserves players Riley Easton and Josh White.
Another local, Southport listed Troy Rissman is also a strong chance to make an appearance in the seniors for the Demons.
Launching the day, will be the inaugural women’s city verses country match.
The event, which is supported by Peters Coaches and the Toowoomba Regional Council, has free entry, as well as Halftime Roy’s Junior Footy.
