Redland are working hard to lure goalkicking machine Jason Eagle back to Victoria Point for the 2011 season.
The strongly-built left-footer spent just the one year – 2009 – with the red and blacks, booting 80.80 in a stunning debut season where Redland finished third after the qualifying rounds.
He moved to Shepparton United in the Goulburn Valley League this year, where he had kicked 64 goals and headed the goalkicking entering this month, despite having missed a number of games with a groin injury.
Eagle’s hard leading and strong marking has been sorely missed by a Bombers outfit that has generated just as many inside 50s as last season.
“We’ve close to getting Eagle back,” admitted Bombers coach Matty Francis.
The Bombers have already signed the bulk of their top players, including never-say-die utility Josh Norman.
Club president Col Tobiasen worked hard to provide Eagle with good employment last year and the Bombers are doing everything in their power to persuade Eagle back.
His spectacular marking and bullish attack on the ball proved a hit with spectators at Colburn Avenue and will be an even more valuable addition if the mooted Northern League proceeds next year.
