The legacy of the late, great Harry Kennan lives on at Broadbeach with the former president’s business H & A Home Repairs buying naming rights to the Cats’ home ground.
Previously known simply as Merrimac, Broadbeach’s home ground at Dunlop Court in Mermaid Waters will now be officially known as H & A Oval.
It serves as another tribute to the man who was very much ‘Mr Broadbeach’, having been a longtime junior and senior football clubs president and 15-year tribunal advocate.
Kennan has long been credited as the driving force behind push for the Cats to join the State League back in 1997.
While they have not won a premiership in that time, the Cats have enjoyed a number of strong seasons during their 14 winters in the QAFL.
Kennan sadly passed away in 2008 but the family’s support of the Cats remains as strong as ever.
