AFL Queensland has joined forces with Australias leading Healthcare provider Bupa to help Queensland football families live happier healthier lives.
Bupa has signed on as the official AFL Queensland Junior Football Health Partner and together with AFLQ will deliver the Bupa Healthy Community AFL Program.
The Bupa Healthy Community AFL Program will allow up to 9000 families involved in 117 junior football clubs across Queensland to learn and trial new family health management strategies through an online family health challenge.
The new program will also provide essential sporting equipment and resources to junior football clubs which will enrich and improve AFL training environments for leagues throughout the state.
AFL Queensland CEO Michael Conlan said that the Bupa Healthy Community AFL Program highlights the role family health plays in junior sport and provides families and clubs with additional tools to provide the best environment for participation.
“In the last 10 years AFL Queensland has worked extremely hard to educate clubs, coaches and volunteers on the latest coaching approaches, club management strategies and match day practices in order to give our junior footballers the best AFL experience possible,” said Conlan.
“The Bupa Healthy Community Program gives families strategies and information to make informed choices about family health matters and in particular how finding a healthier family lifestyle impacts positively on a child’s participation in our game. “
The Bupa Healthy Community Program has two main activities:
- Each Club in Queensland will receive a Bupa Junior Training Equipment Pack. The pack contains equipment to assist clubs in providing a quality training environment for junior footballers to practice their skills and learn more about the game. These will be delivered and presented to clubs.
- Take part in the Bupa Family Challenge and you could win tickets to the Toyata AFL Grand Final – Is your family up for a one week healthy challenge? From 1st August to 31st August all Junior AFL Families will be encouraged to take the online Bupa Family Challenge. The program poses questions such as: When was the last time your family had a meal together without TV or Mobile phones? Walked together or tried a new fruit or vegetable?
