Coaching: Level 2 Coaching Course Announcements

With season 2019 fast approaching, AFL Queensland has received plenty of interest regarding the Level 2 Senior Coaching Course at Aspley’s Graham Road Oval facility on November 17.

Given the enormity of applicants registered for the course ahead of this weekend, the decision has been made to close applications.

AFL Queensland Coaching & Volunteer Development Coordinator Luke Carroll was pleased by the number of applications for the course.

“Currently, we have received our quota of applications however we have now reached capacity and cannot take any more,” Carroll said.

“The interest in the course has been enormous and the number of applications is very pleasing to see.”

Budding coaches who missed out on the course won’t miss out entirely with new opportunities for courses set for early 2019.

In South East Queensland, coaches will have the opportunity to undertake the Level 2 course in February, however dates and venue will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

AFL Queensland are also fielding expressions of interest within the Mackay and Capricornia regions for a Level 2 Hybrid coaching course for both Youth & Senior in Mackay on Saturday March 2.

The course will fall on the same weekend as the Gold Coast SUNS’ JLT Community Series fixture against the Western Bulldogs at Great Barrier Reef Area the following day.

Cazalys Stadium will host another Level 2 coaching course in Cairns on Saturday, March 9 for coaches in the state’s northern end. A free coaching personal development day will also take place on the Sunday for all new and existing coaches looking to update their accreditation.

In the new year, each course will be a hybrid session taking place over the one day; encapsulating both youth and senior coaches aged 13 to open.

The course has also been streamlined in 2018, incorporating more interactive online modules to offer coaches a more practical experience relevant to their coaching rank.

In line with the AFL Queensland coaching pathway, coaches at all stages of the QAFL, QWAFL and NEAFL level are expected to hold minimum level 2 coaching accreditation.
