The AFL Queensland Master Class Coaching sessions hit the Gold Coast on Monday June 24.
The AFL Queensland Master Class Coaching sessions hit the Gold Coast on Monday June 24.
Held at Metricon Stadium, the SUNS Recruiting Manager, Scott Clayton and assistant coach, Andy Lovell.
The coach education session is open to all accredited community coaches and will start at 6pm -8pm.
AFL Queensland coach & volunteer manager, Jack Barry, said the class would be a great opportunity for local coaches to pick up some new knowledge.
“Scott and Andy bring with them a lot of AFL industry knowledge and both are happy to pass on that to the local coaches,” he said.
“Coaches do an outstanding job in volunteering their time to pass on their knowledge of the game to the players.
“It’s important that they keep developing themselves and players are receiving fresh messages and good ideas.”
Barry said it would also be a great chance for coaches to meet and discuss the latest trends on and off the field.
“Nights like these are a great for everyone to catch up, talk footy and remind everyone why they got into coaching.”
Coaches also control a lot of the match day environment so they have an obligation to the game to keep up with the latest behavioural standards and trends.
The SUNS class follows a Brisbane Lions masterclass held on Monday, led Gary O’Donnell, Leigh Harding and Luke Curran, with more than 70 coaches in attendance.
