Mountain Creek have completed a sensational double in the Brisbane Lions Cup schools competition, winning the junior girls and senior girls premierships.

The emerging Sunshine Coast powerhouse beat Park Ridge High 4-6 (30) to 2-0 (12) in the junior division for Years 8-9 after being runners-up in 2009.

And they beat St.Ursula’s College from Toowoomba 5-3 (33) to1-1 (7) in the senior division for Years 10-11-12.

Their twin success in the girls competition at the Gabba on Thursday 26 August came after the boys team had reached the grand final of the corresponding Northern States Cup for Years 8-9 before going down to Palm Beach Currumbin High by two points.

Injured Brisbane Lions defender Andrew Raines (pictured right) was on hand to present the trophy to the successful Mountain Creek girls.
