AFL Queensland is proud to announce a partnership with EXIMM for their 2021 state-wide Pride Round.
The EXIMM Pride Round will take place across Queensland on the weekend of 14-16th of May and will celebrate diversity and inclusion across the football community.
EXIMM Owner, Garry Goodman, said they were excited to be on board.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to partner with AFL Queensland, that like EXIMM, places a high value on inclusivity and diversity,” he said.
“EXIMM has always been a big supporter of football in Queensland, but this is about more than just football and that’s why we feel Pride Round is a perfect partnership for us.
“It’s about people not only being accepted but celebrated. The clubs love getting behind Pride Round as it’s fun, it’s colourful, and importantly it has a much deeper connection for many of the players about being able to celebrate being themselves.”
The centrepiece of the round will be the eight Bond University QAFLW/Development matches, which will all be held at Coorparoo, but many other clubs like Broadbeach and Kedron will mark the round with full days of men’s and women’s football, as well as pre and post-game functions.
Head of AFL Queensland, Trisha Squires, said they were expecting more than 50 clubs across the state to participate and celebrate the LGBTIQ+ community over a weekend of football.
“As a sport we aim to be the most accessible and inclusive in Queensland, and in this instance we are showcasing and celebrating that diversity in the form of Pride Round,” she said.
“It’s set to be a fantastic weekend of football, and given the success of it in the past we can only expect it continue to grow. We’re looking forward to another successful Pride Round this year.”
