The annual North Queensland v South Queensland Representative Clash is this weekend, and the final men’s and women’s teams have been confirmed.
The South Queensland women’s side will be defending its title on home soil this year, with both games being played at Bond University Oval, alongside the Queensland v Tasmania representative matches.
The North Queensland men’s side will be travelling down to face a tough South Queensland outfit led by Head Coach Andrew Cadzow.
The North Queensland women’s team, under Head Coach and former Collingwood AFLW Coach Wayne Seikman, will see Amy Mill return for her third appearance and former NAB AFLW GWS Giant Delma Gisu take to the field.
The North Queensland men’s side will be led by returning Head Coach Wes Glass. The side will see former Southport VFL player and Cairns junior Daniel Charlesworth take to the field, as well as NQ veterans Alex Rogers and Sean Connelley, who are set for their third and fourth appearances in the iconic blue respectively.
Stepping into the South Queensland women’s Head Coach role for the first time, Ben Long will be looking for back-to-back victories in 2024, naming a strong squad with the likes of Rachel Crack, SQ captain in 2023; former Assistant Coach and Bond University QAFLW player Ari Reilly; and Scout Strong, who is making her third appearance after being named in the 2022 inaugural SQ women’s side.
Looking to take the win this year, the South Queensland men’s side will be led by Head Coach Andrew Cadzow and features talent from all across South Queensland, including Wide Bay and Darling Downs. Players to watch include the experienced Nick Jackson, Beau Harris, and Alex McKay.
The South Queensland women’s and men’s squads will be reduced to teams of 21 and 22 respectively following the last training session this week.
Both matches will be livestreamed on AFL Queensland’s official YouTube on Saturday June 22, with the women’s match at 4:15pm and the men’s at 6:15pm.
