AFL Queensland has announced funding to 23 clubs via the Inaugural AFL Queensland Female Small Grants Scheme.
The Female Small Grants Scheme provides funds of up to $500 to Queensland community clubs to provide essential equipment or resources to female teams, with a total of $12,500 available in 2016.
AFL Queensland CEO Dean Warren said successful clubs demonstrated great commitment to growing the game for females and ensuring that women and girls have equal access to compete.
“With over 60 clubs now fielding women’s or girls teams in Queensland it’s important to provide support to those clubs that have fielded teams over the last five years,” said Warren.
“One in three Queenslanders participating in Australian Football is female so it’s vitally important that we assist clubs in providing a great experience and program for women and girls teams.
