The AFL community has been successful in securing $7,255,705 in grant funding from the Queensland Government’s Get Playing Plus program for a number of critical and exciting projects across the Sunshine State.
The funding will enable seven major projects to proceed to construction, adding capacity to our network of community facilities and providing improved places to play and train for several clubs in key growth areas.
The total value of the seven projects is in the order of $37 million – a major boost for Australian Football.
“The AFL’s investment into community football facilities in Queensland continues to grow, and we are pleased that the Queensland Government has supported our facilities investments with generous Get Playing Plus contributions across the state,” said State Infrastructure and Planning Manager Jake Anson.
“Australian football is enjoying strong growth across Queensland, and the funding of new AFL precincts at Moggill and Pimpama will ensure that thriving clubs can be established in Brisbane’s west and the northern Gold Coast growth corridor. Get Playing Plus funding will further improve five important footy precincts state-wide to better-support our existing footballers and provide inviting environment to attract new participants to our game.
“The Queensland Government has provided the AFL community with a wonderful gift to celebrate our 150th Anniversary in the Sunshine State.”
