Brian Warlow

e7a7456b75Born in Rockhampton in 1941, Brian has been associated with Mayne Tigers since 1949, the year he first took to the field as a junior. Throughout his playing days, Brian remained loyal to the club, notching up an impressive five grand final appearances, resulting in three flags for his beloved club. Most notably, Brian was a member of youngest side to capture the A-grade flag, with an average age of just 21 across the park.

In addition to 179 games for the Tigers, Brian was also selected to represent Queensland an impressive 14 times.

Following his retirement midway through the 1969 season, Warlow turned his attention to coaching, taking the reins at Western Districts and Springwood before returning ‘home’ permanently in 1982. Warlow’s return signalled a change in the wind for the club, leading the Mayne juniors to back-to-back finals appearances – winning in 1982 – before handing over control in 1988.

For his services on the field, Warlow was duly selected as a member of Mayne’s Team of the century.
