The new Western Rim junior competition was launched over the weekend.
The new Western Rim competition was launched with an action packed day at Jimboomba JAFC over the weekend.
The Fassifern Falcons, Mt Tamborine Hawks, Beaudesert Brumbies and Jimboomba Redbacks came together for the first time, marking the beginning of junior AFL in the region.
Club teams ‘kicked off’ the football season with a number of round robin practice matches, giving players a chance to break in new boots before the season starts.
The official competition launch was highlighted by visits from Brisbane Lions players Dayne Zorko and Sam Docherty as well as Gold Coast suns mascot Sunny Ray.
Throughout the day, kids (and even some parents) tested their skills on the Gold Coast Suns radar gun kicking challenge
The event marked years of work by club volunteers to establish a junior football competition Western Rim region.
The new competition provides families the opportunity to play localised junior AFL, significantly cutting traveling times.
