NT Thunder midfielder Cameron Ilett and Southport counterpart Danny Wise are going blow for blow in the race for the Syd Guildford Trophy for the QAFL Player of the Year.
Ilett was best on ground in the Thunder’s important win over Mt Gravatt last weekend to draw level on 22 votes with Wise, who received the four-vote in the Sharks’s win over Brisbane.
The duo have swapped the lead with each other and now tied in a frenzied three-match period where both have been outstanding.
They even matched each other with similar outstanding performances for Queensland in the State game a fortnight ago.
It is far from a two-man war, however, with Aspley’s Matt Shir and Broadbeach’s Dayne Zorko remaining within four votes of the leaders.
They too have enjoyed a stellar month, with Zorko’s 12 goals last Saturday at Chelmer earning him top votes.
Perennial votegetter Jacob Gough, Sharks recruit Darren Pfeiffer and Lion Pearce Hanley are newcomers to the top 10.
