The Brisbane Lions faced their biggest test so far this year when they took on 160 girls and boys at a NAB AFL Auskick super clinic at the Gabba.
The Lions fielded a strong starting line-up, including their star-studded midfield of Dayne Beams, Daniel Rich, Tom Rockliff and Queensland NAB AFL Auskick Ambassador, Dayne Zorko.
To even things up a little, the players started their young opposition off with a skills session before moving on to some favourite Auskick games, including stuck in the Mud, Across the Ocean and everyone’s favourite … Bomb the Players
After facing a barrage of balls, the players took a break while Zorko hosted a Q and A session; the group keen to know how many goals he’s kicked in his career, what he eats before a big game and … if he was in fact, the real Dayne Zorko!
Never one to shy away from a good contest, Bernie ‘Gabba’ Vegas came off the bench for the Lions, much to the delight of “Team Auskick”. After a few high intensity activities he subbed himself out of the game and spent the rest of the session mingling with the Auskickers families.
The Lions brought out the big guns to finish off the session, in the form of Brion the inflatable Lion and Captain Tom Rockliff, who encouraged the kid’s to get to the Gabba to cheer the team on.
Game over, it was time for autographs and photos to finish off an excellent day.
