The AFL, in partnership with NAB, is proud to launch NAB AFL Superkick – an exciting new way for children to play, develop their skills, have fun and make friends in the football community.
NAB AFL Superkick has been specifically designed for children aged 8-12 years old and is available for all sets of skills and experiences. These include children who have completed their NAB AFL Auskick journey, those who want to keep playing after their junior footy season wraps up, or kids who are picking up a footy for the first time.
Delivered at the same location each week, the one-hour sessions are broken down into four quarters consisting of engaging skill games and activities (15 minutes) followed by match play (45 minutes). Being tackle-free, smaller team sizes and a shorter season length, Superkick provides the perfect pathway for starting off or continual play.
NAB AFL Superkick registrations will open gradually across the country from Thursday 16 November for the 2024 season – and just like Auskick, anyone can register!
Executive General Manager of Game Development, Rob Auld, said he was delighted to launch NAB AFL Superkick and thanked NAB for their continual support of Australian football.
“We’re thrilled to have NAB AFL Superkick up and running in the community which offers children more ways to play and another entry point to get involved in our game,” Auld said.
“The beauty of this new program is that it caters for all, including those who have been involved in NAB AFL Auskick and local junior footy, as well as those kids who are new to Australian football and want to have a go.
“We also know there are some children who aren’t quite ready to transition to their local junior footy team after Auskick, so having sessions broken down into four quarters, with three of those being modified match-play, gives kids the chance to stay involved, develop their skills and keep having fun on the field with their friends.
“In developing NAB AFL Superkick it was important to ensure the program was family friendly and easily accessible, so all venues are local, the games are tackle-free, it’s simple to register and affordable.
“On behalf of the AFL I’d like to thank NAB for their continual support and investment in our game. We know they have played a vital role in our NAB AFL Auskick program for so many years, and we’re thrilled this partnership now extends to our new Superkick format too.”
NAB Chief Marketing Officer, Suzana Ristevski, said Superkick will play an important role in supporting the next generation of players.
“The launch of NAB AFL Superkick is an exciting milestone for grassroots football across Australia. With NAB’s support, Superkick will give more kids, volunteers and communities a new opportunity to participate and engage with the game we love.
“We’ve supported Auskickers for more than 17 years, so it’s an exciting evolution for NAB to give Superkickers a chance to continue their footy journey to the big time.”
The launch of NAB AFL Superkick follows on from the revitalised release of AFL Nines which is a dynamic, fast and fun game set to keep everyone on their toes, no matter their level of experience. AFL Nines is targeted for youth (13+) all the way up to masters’ competitions.
