The first semi-final showdown between the Gold Coast Suns Reserves and Morningside has been moved to Southport on Saturday following a request from the AFL.
In a direct swap, the National Under 15 Kickstart Championships grand final involving the country’s best Indigenous teenagers will now play their grand final at Metricon Stadium.
The northern conference first semi has an early start time of 9.30am at Fankhauser Reserve, which will allow the Gold Coast players to get back to Metricon for club commitments during and after their final senior game of the season against Hawthorn.
The Suns have hosting rights to the first semi-final for finishing higher than Morningside at the end of the qualifying rounds.
The League has mandated free entry for spectators at the first semi-final.
The reserves second semi-final will still be played at Redland at 12 noon on Saturday between the Bombers and Southport.
The NEAFL second semi-final between the NT Thunder and Mt Gravatt is expected to attract a big crowd to TIO Stadium in Darwin on Saturday night.
Next weekend’s preliminary final will be played at Colburn Avenue, Victoria Point.
