AFL Queensland has announced a new partnership which sees Australia’s leading online wine retailer Get Wines Direct become the naming rights sponsor of the Queensland Women’s state team.
Under the new deal the team will be known as the Get Wines Direct Queensland Sunfire, a move welcomed by AFL Queensland Female Programs Manager Julia Price.
“Get Wines Direct is a premier company and their support is a great acknowledgement of our state’s top female football players,” said Price.
AFL is one of Australia’s fastest growing female sports with participation rising over 300% in 2012, and the recent State Championships saw over 100 women vie for selection in the Queensland team.
The Get Wines Direct Sunfire head to Cairns in June to compete in the AFL National Women’s Championships.
“With Queensland hosting the National Championships we are thrilled to be able to endorse a great company like Get Wines Direct,” said Price.
Owner/Founder of Get Wines Direct Tony Sells echoed Price’s enthusiasm for the new partnership
“Get Wines Direct are absolutely thrilled to continue our proud association of upholding and sponsoring women in elite sport. Being our beloved AFL is just an added bonus,” said Sells.
