The final piece of the Queensland representative puzzle has fallen into place with selectors naming the North Queensland Squad to play South Queensland in Brisbane on Sunday June 7.
North Queensland will take on South Queensland, Queensland will meet Victoria Metro, the NEAFL will play the Tasmanian State League and the Queensland Women’s team will match up against a Tasmanian state representative side.
North Queensland Coach John Tootell said the North Queensland Squad had been selected on form and who coaching staff think will give the best account for the region.
“We know that the South Queensland team will be very strong and well prepared for the game, but a lot of work has been done throughout the region to select the best players,” Tootell said.
With a large number of players leaving the area in the off season, Tootell said it would be a completely different team from the one that beat South Queensland by six points in last year’s thriller.
“Hopefully the squad can gel together in a short time and produce some exciting football to represent the North Queensland region, and promote the game further in the region,” he said.
The North Queensland team will meet in Brisbane from their respective regions at lunchtime on Saturday, before undertaking a short training session at Yeronga.
A team building activity in the early evening before team meeting in preparation for Sunday’s match.
