Some of the true diamonds of Australian football will gather at Morningside on 14 August to celebrate the club’s 60 years in the QAFL.

Since forming in 1950, the Panthers have grown in strength each decade to become one of the powers of the competition, and certainly one of the most traditional.

A number of high profile AFL players have been groomed at Morningside, including Brisbane Lions superstar Michael Voss, Hawthorn premiership player Stephen Lawrence, triple premiership full-back Mal Michael, and rising young stars Courtenay Dempsey, Gavin Urquhart, David Armitage, Tom Williams and Scott Harding.

The Panthers also boast many Queensland greats, including Noel and Neville McGuinness, Rod Diprose, Darryl Bourke, and Craig, Dean and Brad Edwards.

In 2010, the Panthers have almost 400 registered players from Auskick through to senior level.

To commemorate their 60 years in the top competition in the State, Morningside will be hosting a 60th anniversary cocktail party on Saturday 14 August from 7pm at their Jack Esplen Oval clubhouse.

The evening will entertainment, memorabilia, auctions, prizes and stories of games gone by. All proceeds will go to the continued upgrade of players’ and guest facilities.

All current and past players, administrators and supporters are invited to attend. Tickets cost just $30 per head.
