The Morningside Panthers are set to host the Aspley Hornets in a top-of-the-table clash this Saturday.
Both teams are known for their fierce attacking prowess and impenetrable defensive lines, promising a thrilling contest that could reshape the QAFL ladder.
With the Panthers currently perched atop the standings and the Hornets buzzing close behind, this match is crucial for both sides’ premiership aspirations.
The last time these two powerhouses collided, Aspley emerged victorious with a 11.13 (79) to 8.10 (58) win in Round 10.
However, the Panthers have been on a roll since then and will be eager to even the score on their home turf.
Morningside’s lineup receives a significant boost with the return of key players Brad Hodge, Harry Taylor, Wyatt Greenaway, Sam Godfrey, and Shaquille McLeod.
These additions will undoubtedly strengthen the Panthers’ already formidable squad.
On the other hand, Aspley maintains their winning formula, fielding an unchanged team from their impressive victory over Labrador last weekend.
Players to watch include Morningside’s Kai Purslow, Brad Hodge, Cam Lovig, and Keegan Downie, who have been instrumental in the Panthers’ success this season.
Connor Stackelberg and Keegan Downie are currently among the top three point scorers of the season, setting the stage for an exciting showdown between these two prolific forwards.
For Aspley, keep an eye on Brandon Batchelor, the Stackelberg brothers (Cody and Connor), and the ever-reliable Liam Dawson.
The midfield battle between Cody Stackelberg and Dylan Swann promises to be a particular highlight of the match.
As both teams boast their fair share of statistical leaders, spectators can expect a clash of titans across all areas of the field.
Will the Panthers’ home-ground advantage prove too much for the Hornets to handle, or will Aspley’s sting be enough to topple the league leaders?
One thing’s for certain – this Saturday at 2pm, Jack Esplen Oval will be buzzing with excitement as these two QAFL giants go head-to-head in what promises to be the match of the season.
Will the Panthers be mightier than the Hornets this time around?
In other games we will see Mt Gravatt looking for their first win of the season against Maroochydore, and Sherwood hoping to hold out against the formidable Palm Beach Currumbin Lions. Broadbeach, Labrador, Surfers Paradise, Redland Victoria Point, Noosa, and Wilston Grange will be resting up for next week as they enjoy a bye this Saturday.
