The Queensland Football Association (QFA) Division 1 HART Sport Cup is set for a blockbuster season with the 2021 fixture locked in.
HART Sport will again return as the competition’s major sponsor, with the season commencing on Saturday, April 10th when Caloundra take on Beenleigh at North Street Oval.
Caloundra will re-enter the QFA Division 1 after having the 2020 season off due to COVID-19. While Noosa have been elevated to the Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) competition after running away with the last two QFA Division 1 Grand Finals.
QFA Competition Manager, Leigh Harding, said there would be an exciting new feel to the competition this year.
“Excitingly, with Noosa and Maroochydore in the QAFL, we’re guaranteed to see a fresh name on the Premiership Cup in 2021,” he said.
“The fixture features 16 rounds with a number of local rivalries and several marquee matches and themed rounds, which will be supported and celebrated by all clubs.”
“The seven-team format will mean each team plays each other a minimum of twice. This gives affordance to add extra rivalry opportunities and key fixtures at certain times of the year.”
Round two will see Mayne host Coorparoo in a special ANZAC Day clash, while Springwood’s annual Sir Doug Nicholls clash is shaping up to be an action-packed match with the squad versing Beenleigh at Lowe Oval.
After the success of the competitions inaugural Pride Round last year, round six will again see the competition celebrate the LGBTIQ + community and inclusion for all within the game.
Representative football is back on the calendar, with the annual South Queensland vs North Queensland clash scheduled for June 12th resulting in a competition-wide bye round.
The top four will qualify for the three-week final’s series, which will start on the weekend of August 28th.
The QFA Division 1 HART Sport Cup Grand Final will be played on September 11th.
