Friday night footy is almost back with the fixtures for QFA Division 3 and 4 locked in.
The newly restructured competition will now feature teams in QFA Division 3 North and South and QFA Division 4 North and South.
With the Friday night competitions continuing to gather momentum, the addition of a second division 3 competition caters for the future growth of the competition whilst looking to reduce travel constraints ensure a level of competitive balance across all Friday night divisions.
Teams granted new licences and entering the competition are Sandgate, Caloundra, Coolangatta and Greater Springfield.
QFA Division 3 and 4 Competition Manager, Grace Winch, said the restructure would have a positive impact on the competition.
“As the competition has continued to grow and gain momentum, the restructure comes at an appropriate time and aims to speak to the current and future landscapes of the competitions,” she said.
“We’re also hoping the restructure removes barriers for aspirational clubs and provides a pathway to elevate competitions from year to year.”
Both Division 3 and 4 North and South competitions will kick off April 14 with each team playing 14 matches across the 18-week seasons.
All competitions will celebrate the themed rounds in line with the rest of the state including ANZAC Round in April, Sir Doug Nicholls Round in May and Pride Round in July.
Finals start on August 11 before the Grand Finals on September 1 (Division 3 & 4 South) and September 8 (Division 3 & 4 North).
