QFA Preview

QFA North

Caloundra vs. Mayne
Saturday August 15, 2:00pm – North St Oval

1 vs. 4, and both teams ramping up their preparations for the post season. Mayne probably have a little more to play for this week. A win hand them the minor premiership for 2015, and it will be their final hit out before finals.

Mayne are coming off the back of a huge win over Nambour and Hinterland where they kicked a whopping 35 goals. Caloundra had the bye last week, which probably came at a good time, allowing them to recharge before a finals assault.

Mayne are the champs for the reason, and should prove that this weekend, all but locking up the minor premiership.

Moreton Bay vs. Nambour and Hinterland
Saturday August 15, 2:00pm – Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex

Both teams will be looking to bounce back and build some momentum this weekend before 2016. Nambour were no match for Mayne last week, and Moreton Bay couldn’t get close to Noosa.

Moreton Bay should get the job done comfortably this week, but stranger things have happened. All it is going to take for Nambour is a sniff, and the belief will start to grow.

Noosa vs. Aspley
Saturday August 15, 2:00pm – Weyba Rd

With Maroochydore having the bye this week, Noosa have the chance to draw level with them on points. They are coming off the back of a very impressive performance against Moreton Bay last week, so touch will not be an issue.

Aspley will be up against it this week. Noosa are a formidable outfit, but what they will be looking for is to get a roll on before their clash with Caloundra next week, which could be gettable all things considered.

This one should go according to the script.

QFA South

Alexandra Hills vs. Yeronga South Brisbane
Saturday August 15, 2:00pm – Keith Surridge Oval

Last Friday nights result wouldn’t sit well with Yeronga South Brisbane. They were picked apart around the ball by Springwood, and this week they will be out to make amends.

Alexandra Hills wont be discounting their chances this week though. They got the win over Coomera last week, but the telling stat was the 17- 32 scoring shot count in Alex Hills favour, it was a dominate performance.

Yeronga will have to be on from the get go, to put the game away early. If you give a team like Alexandra Hills a sniff early, they will be hard to stop

Burleigh vs. Coomera
Saturday August 15, 2:00pm – Bill Godfrey Oval

This one is going to be tighter than a lot of people expect. Coomera were disappointing against Alexandra Hills last week, going down by 30-points, so they will be looking to make up for that this week. Burleigh on the other hand had last week off. It should help them in the long run of the game, but they could be a little rusty early. That’s when the Magpies have to pounce.

Robina vs. Kenmore
Saturday August 15, 2:00pm – Scottsdale Drive

Robina were no match for flag favorites Coorparoo last week, going down by 12-goals, whereas Kenmore were comfortably winners over Coolangatta-Tweed.

In the grand scheme of things, this week is an important week for Kenmore. They face Springwood next week, so they would be very keen to send a statement and build a nice bit of momentum before they take on the team they are likely to play at some stage in the finals. It won’t mean much ladder wise, but the possibility of gaining the mental edge is huge.

Springwood vs. Coorparoo
Saturday August 15, 2:00pm – Lowe Oval

Game of the round, game of the season, possible grand final preview; this one has it all.

Springwood confirmed last week that it’s not just a one horse race for the flag this year with a clinical win over Yeronga. It’s the kind of form you want to be in this time of year.

Coorparoo haven’t done much wrong this year though. They got win number 13 over Robina last weekend, and did it in style.

This one should be a belter. It will be very interesting to see how they stack up against each other, and if they keep any cards close to their chest.
