Queensland U18 Youth Girls into first ever National Grand Final
Queensland kept South Australia scoreless in the last quarter to book a berth in the 2012 Under 18 Youth Girls National Championships Grand Final.
As is always the case when South Australia play Queensland, they charge out and dominate the first half before Queensland get their act together and come home in the last quarter.
Today’s grand finalist decider was no different. South Australia’s ball handling and attack on the ball was far better than Queensland resulting in them leading their opponents 4 3 (27) to Queensland’s 2 points only at half time.
But Breanna Koenen, who was unable to represent her state due to injury last year, was having none of it! She lifted her team and together with Tayla Harris -who was very busy in the midfield – they were able to turn the game around for Queensland.
The second half was virtually played in the Queensland forward line with the Sunfire scoring 8 goals 5 points to a solitary goal for SA.
An excited Queensland celebrated with their new theme song sung loudly as they go into their first ever 18 Youth Girls Nationals Grand Final against the undefeated Victorians.
