Queensland U18 State Academy Squad named

AFL Queensland today announced the Queensland Under 18 State Academy Squad for 2015.

Players were selected from the Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast SUNS Academies based on their performance during their summer training programs and recent inter-squad matches.

The Queensland Under 18 side will play the Victorian Country Under 18 team on April 19, before the first of five TAC Cup games on April 25 against the Dandenong Stingrays.

The team will also take part in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships across June and July.

Queensland Academy and High Performance Coach, Adrian Fletcher, said that a successful 2014 has laid the foundation for an even bigger 2015.

“Last year we changed the way our academy system operated and it worked extremely well,” Fletcher said.

“This year we want to be even better, providing academy members the best possible pathway in their future development.”

“We had five draftees from our group last year, and this year our depth is even greater. All 33 members of the squad are capable of playing elite level football.”
