Coolaroo are the latest club in the Darling Downs to announce a new Senior Coach for the 2021 season, appointing former premiership player Miels Grice to take over the reigns from Darren Copland who’s been at the helm for the past two seasons.
Grice was a member of the 2013 Coolaroo premiership side, a year which saw the key forward boot 106 goals in the season. ‘Milo’ also has mix of playing and coaching experience across a number of country football leagues beyond the Darling Downs including Queensland, Victoria and the Northern Territory which he’ll draw upon in 2021.
“I’m around the club a lot as it is, and thought now more than ever was the perfect time for me to give it another crack” Grice said of his appointment.
“I feel like I have some unfinished business in my own coaching and development”
After a Grand Final appearance in 2019, and a Preliminary Final appearance this season, Grice hopes to “to keep building our club back up to become a powerhouse on the Downs again.”
“I’ve been lucky enough to taste ultimate success in these colours and we have a young core group coming through who I would like to lead in the right direction, which is being able to compete deep into September for that same success” Grice said of his aims for the group in 2021.
“Just to continue to grow the group and keep improving and striving to be better to all buy into the same group philosophy’s and have the same end goal as a group”
In closing, Grice said that “Coolaroo is a fantastic Family Football Club with a great culture anyone new to town or looking for a club come on down the door is always open. In the new year we will train Monday and Wednesday nights at Rockville Park.”
