This Saturday May 18 will see the first AFL Mackay Juniors match played at Sarina Showgrounds, with Sarina Demons playing host to the Mackay City Hawks Under 9’s and Under 11’s at 8.30am and 9.30am.
Having a home ground and home game is an exciting step forward for the Sarina Demons said club President Vanessa Creeley.
“We have just managed to gain a new home ground at the Sarina Showgrounds which is prime real estate when it comes to road frontage,” she said.
“This is a credit to our great club as many members have made this come to fruition.
“We are thankful for the Sarina Show Society in seeing the benefits of us being a part of their fantastic grounds.
“This move is going to help our relatively new Club (being only 3 years old) grow via way of player numbers due to more exposure to the community and also with sponsors.”
Vanessa said that while the Demons – particularly the kids – love being able to play at home, this home game will be extra special.
“The next home game will see us hosting the Country Carnival on the 28th July and we are excited about accommodating all the Mackay Clubs and showcasing our great new ground,” Vanessa said.
“With the exposure our new home ground will now give us as a club, we are looking forward to inviting and embracing the Sarina Community and surrounding Districts as part of our great family-orientated Club.
“We look forward to witnessing the wider community getting to enjoy and experience our great game of AFL.”
