Coorparoo Senior President Sam Haddad has announced that Daniel Selby will take the reigns as coach of the Coorparoo Senior Women’s side for the 2016 QWAFL season.
Selby started off as an AFL Auskick assistant at 14 years of age before coaching the Under 8 and Under 9 squads at Calamvale JAFC, as well as Sherwood’s Under 16 McDonalds Cup side in 2011 & 2012.
Additionally, he coached Under 17 Youth Girls side Brisbane Flames to four consecutive State Championship titles between 2011-2014.
The Ladyroos enter the 2016 season following three consecutive QWAFL premierships and just two losses through the 2015 QWAFL season. The side will be looking to continue their success under Selby’s guidance.
He will be supported by Team Manager Lisa Crew and Assistant Coach Michelle Cubis, – a former Queensland representative and premiership player with Coorparoo.
Senior Football Operations Manager Michael Gibson believes the new coaching line-up will assist the club in building upon its player pathway.
“I’m excited to have Daniel and Michelle on board as we continue providing a pathway for our junior boys and girls into men’s and women’s football,” Gibson said.
The Women open their 2016 campaign against the University of Queensland at St Lucia on Saturday April 23.
Their first match on home turf at Giffin Park is a 2015 Grand Final rematch against Cooloongatta-Tweed on Saturday May 7 at 4:45pm.
