Coolangatta playing coach, Daniel Hawkins, is in the 60 secs hot seat this week.
Daniel “Dougie” Hawkins is in his first year as senior coach at Coolangatta, but he’s definitely not new to the Blues.
Hawkins has been on the Gold Coast footy scene for a while now, having played four years for Southport and five for Coolangatta, and is set to notch up 100 games for the Blues this season.
He’s a bit of a fish fanatic, and spends a lot of his spare time with a fishing rod in his hand.
Continuing on the fishing theme, it’s his favourite food and he says that catching a marlin is at the top of his bucket list.
If he could pick any destination for a holiday, it would have to be a place with quality fishing spots too.
Dougie is a bit of a hydrophile, obviously, nominating pro surfer as the job he’d most like to do.
It’d be a bit of a learning curve for him, though, as he’s never surfed before.

Away from the football field, Hawkins says he’s a very relaxed person and this comes across in his coaching style as well, which might explain the surfing aspirations.
Don’t mistake calmness for apathy though, with Hawkins also saying he is focussed and dedicated in his coaching and naming the competitive aspect of footy as his favourite part of the sport.
The Hawthorn supporter says Hawks captain Luke Hodge is his favourite AFL player, but also has a soft spot for former West Coast/Richmond player, Ben Cousins.
He picked Bombers coach, James Hird as his number one AFL coach.
Throughout his football career, he reckons that Danny Dickfos was his toughest opponent.
