The highly anticipated 2023 QAFL and Bond University QAFLW Senior and Reserve Grade fixtures are soon to be released.
After a blockbuster season in 2022, the stage is almost set for another thrilling year of Queensland State League Football.
Round One of the QAFL is scheduled to kick off on April 1st, 2023.
The Men’s competition will see 12 teams play 18 matches across the 21-week season.
A four-week finals series will begin on August 26th with the Grand Final to be held on September 16th.
Round One of the Bond University QAFLW will officially be played on April 15th, 2023.
Eight Women’s teams will play 14 matches across the 16-week season.
A three-week finals series will begin on August 12th, following a pre-finals bye round, with the Grand Final to be held on Sunday August 27th.
Both competitions will rest mid-season on the weekend of July 1st, with the return of interstate representative football, which will see Queensland take on Tasmania.
Competitions Manager – QLD, Mitch Simpson, said he was excited to see the competition’s standard lift year on year and anticipated the bar to be raised again in 2023.
“We’ve seen some significant signings and marquee recruits across the QAFL so I’m looking forward to seeing the new talent taking the competition to another level this year” he said.
“On the back of 12 players being drafted out of the Bond University QAFLW in 2022, I’m excited to see what potential AFLW talent we unearth in 2023.”
An official announcement of the State Leagues 2023 fixtures, including AFL Queensland’s marquee community football rounds – Sir Doug Nicholls and Pride Round, will take place in the following weeks.
