Fourteen-year-old Tayla Harris (pictured left) is the youngest member of the Queensland U18 girls side announced today.

The Brisbane Flames youngster, who only celebrated her 14th birthday on 16 April, is one of nine players from the Brisbane Flames included in a side that will contest the Australian championships on the Gold Coast in September.

This capped a big few weeks for Tayla, who was equal runner-up in the ‘Player of the Championships’ behind the Central Coast Cobras’ Megan Hunt at the recent inaugural State U18 Carnival at Yeronga.

The Cobras won eight spots in the State side, while the Southern Stars earned six, Cairns two and Yeronga one.

The team was named following the U18 Youth Girls Grand Final at Yeronga last Friday in which Yeronga beat Zillmere Eagles 9-11 (65) to 2-3 (15).

Emily Bates, also from the Flames, won the Katie Brennan Trophy as the Player of the Final.
