The Queensland Government has advised that community sport is not permitted for the next two weeks; from 4pm Sunday 8th August until 4pm Sunday 22nd August, 2021 in the 11 local government area in South East Queensland (SEQ).
The local government areas include Brisbane, Logan, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley and Scenic Rim.
We appreciate this is unfortunate news for our game in SEQ; for our clubs, participants, officials and volunteers. AFL Queensland is working through the impacts of what this means for community football and our finals series.
We ask for your patience and understanding while we work through this and we will communicate our next update as soon as we can.
All AFL Queensland led school football programs including the StreetSmarts AFLQ Schools Cup and after-school Auskick won’t proceed during this time.
While the pandemic will continue to challenge us, the health, safety and wellbeing of our community football community remains our highest priority.
AFL Queensland will continue to work with the Queensland Government and health authorities and be guided by their advice and direction.
